About Mateen
Mateen ("we", "the app") is an Islamic education tool that helps users respond to claims about Islam using the Qur'an, authentic Hadith, historical context, and comparative scripture. The app is available on the web and as a mobile app.
Data we collect
- Account email — optional. Only if you sign up. Used to authenticate you and to attach your refutation history to your account.
- Refutation history — only when signed in. The claims you refute and the AI responses are saved to your private history so you can revisit them.
- Anonymous usage analytics — claim category, response time, app version. Stored against a hashed session ID, not your identity. Used to improve the app.
Data we do NOT collect
- No advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID).
- No device fingerprint.
- No precise or coarse location.
- No contacts, photos, or files beyond what you explicitly upload to refute.
Third-party services
- Lovable Cloud (Supabase) — authentication and database. Servers in the US/EU.
- Lovable AI Gateway (Google Gemini models) — your claim text is sent server-side for refutation generation. The AI provider does not retain conversation content.
- Quran.com API — public Qur'anic text and translations.
- Sunnah.com API — public hadith collections.
Microphone
If you grant microphone permission, voice input is processed by your device or browser's built-in speech recognition for the purpose of transcribing what you say into a claim. Audio is not uploaded or stored by Mateen.
Data retention
History is retained until you delete your account. Deleting your account permanently removes your saved refutations and profile. Anonymous analytics are aggregated and retained indefinitely.
Children
Mateen is rated 4+. The app contains no user-generated content visible to other users and no social features.
